The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Kerala, established by the Government of Kerala in 1990, is responsible for the administration, development and academic management of Higher Secondary Education in the state. The Directorate was created as part of the restructuring of education following the National Policy on Education, with the objective of bringing higher secondary education under a dedicated administrative framework.
DHSE Kerala oversees the Higher Secondary level (Plus One and Plus Two) and works towards maintaining academic standards, strengthening educational institutions, supporting teachers and providing effective educational services to students. The Directorate also manages important academic and examination-related activities associated with Higher Secondary Education.
Over the years, the Directorate has developed into an important component of Kerala's General Education system. Its responsibilities include academic administration, examination coordination, curriculum and syllabus implementation, career guidance, institutional support and various student-oriented services.
The Directorate of General Education's Higher Secondary Wing is currently based at Jagathi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. It continues to focus on accessible, effective and quality-oriented higher secondary education for students across the nation.
